Days of Spring

Snowy Owl

Acrylic on panel

12" x 16"

Because wildlife is not restricted to borders, some species can travel great distances throughout the year. This makes it especially important that we support conservation efforts around the world. This Snowy Owl summers in the Arctic regions of the globe where it also breeds. They will winter in southern Canada and the northern United States with many ending up in the Grasslands region during these months. The Snowy Owl depicted in this painting is taking a mid-day nap within a native prairie landscape, resting up for its long journey north. I created this painting to act as an example of how conservation efforts must often span many natural regions across the globe in order to protect just a single species.
