Details and Dramatic Washes

Prerequisite: Watercolor I or equivalent.

Take your watercolor painting to the next level. If you have worked with the basic techniques for creating washes and varying your brushstrokes this class can be the perfect next step for you. Participants will cover creating intricate detail as well as dramatic graded and variegated washes. Master nature illustrator and watercolorist Rachel Ivanyi will share her techniques for tightening up and letting loose in the same painting. A variety of live plant and animal subjects and nature objects will be available each week for inspiration and reference, or you may work from your own photos, focusing on whatever individual organism or group you prefer, with lots of personalized attention and guidance.
