Are you calmed and refreshed by the desert? You can harness and preserve those feelings with a desert-themed mosaic. In this class, you will create an 8"x10" mosaic that looks like a painting from nature, using the double-direct method of mosaics with art glass on wood and a non-toxic adhesive. Mosaic artist Andrea Edmundson will show you how to create unique "brush strokes" with art glass. Students will learn how to prepare their substrates, cut and nip glass, use a photo from nature, apply tesserae, and how to grout and finish their pieces. Tools, art glass, and safety equipment are provided. Absolutely no open-toed shoes or open beverage containers. Note, too, that glass cutting and nipping requires considerable hand strength.
