If you feel comfortable with the techniques used in "Mosaic Paintings of the Desert" and "Intermediate Mosaic Projects," let's now cultivate your inner artist. In this advanced class, you create a dramatic 10x12" mosaic of a flower on a foam core substrate. You will learn to use the color values of your art glass to create realistic shadows and highlights. You learn more sophisticated shape cutting techniques and how to use multiple colors of grout to accentuate your mosaic.
Before the first session, the instructor will send guidance on 1.) selecting and preparing your flower photo on a computer and 2.) calculating how much glass you need to bring to the first session. Because each flower is unique and the class is brief, STUDENTS MUST PURCHASE THEIR OWN ART GLASS to the first session. All other materials, tools, and safety equipment are provided. No open-toed shoes or open beverage containers are allowed. Note, too, that glass cutting and nipping requires considerable hand strength. Aprons are recommended. Computer skills required to modify / prepare flower image.
