Gouache (pronounced "gwash") is an extraordinary medium that combines the best aspects of both watercolors and acrylics. It can be thinned with water and used like watercolor in broad, loose thin washes and glazes or can be layered thick and opaque like acrylic to create highly textural fine detail while always remaining water soluble and always re-workable.
