As in the long tradition of outdoor painting, the focus of this class will be on painting on location, aka ‘Plein Air’ painting. We will be using traditional transparent watercolor, with the Desert Museum grounds as the subject matter. We will learn the technique of working light to dark, whether or not to sketch the subject first, and the pleasure of loose, more impressionistic painting styles. Your instructor will provide group demos of various techniques, while also giving you one-on-one instruction. The class is intended for beginning to intermediate watercolor and/or plein air painters.
