MSA Lori Dunn will discuss how to achieve smooth value transitions and dramatic lighting in your work using advanced scratchboard techniques. She will discuss the properties of light with examples, discussions and demonstrations. Students will learn Lori’s scratching techniques, such as cross hatching and stippling, that are used to create soft and smooth value transitions that build intensity. Students are encouraged to bring their own started or new projects in consideration of this topic. Please note, color will not be discussed, this class is intended for black and white works only created on ampersand scratchboard.
