Cloth & Composition: Beginning Fabric Collage 10/1-2

Deneen Peterson

October 1,2

 Wednesday, Thursday

9:00am-noon

$125 museum members/$175 nonmembers

In this class you will "paint with fabric" to create an art quilt wall hanging. You will use your photograph of a single subject (some will be provided), fabric scraps (some will be provided), scissors, pins, and glue. You will create a small-ish art quilt wall hanging by cutting and gluing fabrics using the photo as a reference. They can be realistic . . . or not! Different techniques will be discussed and/or demonstrated, including fusing fabrics and fabric printing with your printer. On day two you will continue your creation and use a (provided) sewing machine and learn how to thread and use the machine for later steps in the process. No previous fabric or sewing experience is required and those with experience will have a fun "no-rules" time, too! Well, maybe just the "no running with scissors rule.
