Arizona Colors

Phoenix Colored Pencil Society of America

Ironwood Gallery

August 19 -October 8, 2023

Arizona Colors features the work of the Colored Pencil Society of America’s Phoenix Chapter. At first glance, you may think that you are looking at a painting or photograph, but in reality, you are viewing a colored pencil work of art that depicts the rich colors and textures of Arizona’s plants, animals, or culture. Each artist displays a unique interpretation of their experiences through a variety of styles, surfaces, and colored pencil techniques. The layering process of colored pencil application can take months to achieve the desired effect, but the outcome is rewarding and a labor of love.

The Colored Pencil Society of America is an international non-profit organization that promotes the stature and awareness of colored pencil as a professional artist’s medium. With nineteen chapters across the country, it provides a forum for education, communication, and recognition of colored pencil artists.

Entrance to the exhibit is included with museum entrance.
