The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute was founded with the goal of promoting conservation through art education. In the 1990’s, Mrs. Priscilla Baldwin studied botanical illustration and became an ardent conservationist. She envisioned ways to inspire others to embrace conservation while developing their artistic skills. In 1998, through her dedication and hard work, the ASDM Art Institute was born.

Mrs. Baldwin’s work continues to inspire through the art she has created for the book “Treasured Legacies.” These scratchboard master works, depicting the birds of Raptor Free Flight and the animals of Desert Ark, speak to the ASDM’s enduring legacy of education and conservation.
