"Feeling creative? Love color? This class is a fun variation on traditional mosaics – using acrylic paints with modeling paste and scrap art glass – to create a representational mosaic. No grouting required! True beginners can use a pattern provided by the instructor; more confident participants can modify a pattern or use their own design. You learn to: • Use mosaic terminology and glass shaping techniques. • Create a pattern for your mosaic from an inspirational photo. • Design an acrylic glass painting, primarily using scrap glass. • Apply glass tesserae to a pattern, using acrylic colored modeling paste with brushes and palette knives. Registration includes instruction, use of tools, a substrate, a selection of art glass scraps, and other materials. Students may need to bring some of their own glass scraps, depending on their photo. However, the instructor will send a detailed email the week before class. And remember, the class is about learning the technique, NOT about creating a Monet! NOTE: Mosaic art requires considerable hand strength. Aprons highly recommended. No open shoes, food or beverage containers…Glass can fly everywhere!"
