Fundamentals of Drawing: Part 2

Andrew Denman

February 27, 28 March 1, 2026

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

9:00 am - noon

$165 museum members/$215 nonmembers

Part 2 of Andrew Denman’s Fundamentals of Drawing course will help intermediate level students take their skills to the next level. We’ll focus on quick gesture drawings, careful proportional studies, foreshortening, creating believable volume, mass, and texture through shading, use of positive & negative space, and composition. We’ll be drawing from a large alligator skull, but the class is not about alligators. We will be using this single subject as a vehicle for the thorough development of observational drawing skills. With everyone working from the same subject, regular class critiques will be a valuable way to learn from each other’s successes and struggles. The class will culminate in each student producing a highly developed drawing on the last day.
