My Beautiful Spirit Productions

An Interactive Exhibit

My Beautiful Spirit Productions

Opens September 9, 2025

On Grounds

Joe Benedict of My Beautiful Spirit Productions has created creatures that can be set into motion with a little pedal power. Joe has sculpted a butterfly and dragonfly using motorcycle and bicycle parts, steel and slabs of mesquite wood treated with linseed oil, contouring them to create the body and wings. The butterfly’s wings are about six feet wide and hinged at the midpoint. There is a control panel, reminiscent of something you might find in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, on which you can pump a pair of levers to set gears and sprockets into motion. In turn, these will cause the wings to flap and the body to move up and down!

My Beautiful Spirit Productions nonprofit is dedicated to using art, music, film, and interactive sculpture to bring awareness to nature, wildlife conservation, and the beauty of the natural world. Through creative expression, we inspire people to reconnect with the earth, honor its creatures, and recognize the importance of preserving nature.
