Celebrate our unique Sonoran Desert through a series of sketching and journaling techniques as we learn how to capture intimate experiences in nature using pen and ink and watercolor, collage and writing. Draw and paint, record your questions and observations, label particular species, write about your wonder and feelings as we capture page after page of colorful encounters with wildflowers and cacti, animals, birds and the beautiful desert landscape. Several live animals/birds will visit our classroom to photograph, sketch and paint!
Nature journaling is a playful, creative and inspiring way to not only develop observational abilities but also offer us the personal gift of expressive and meaningful experiences outside. Creating with an inquisitive eye and hand will capture a chronicle of a particular moment, conjuring up smells, sounds of wind and birds, the feel of the wind and warmth of sunlight on one’s skin: a visceral memory in Nature that can be enjoyed for years to come. Our focus in this nature journaling workshop will be to relax, take a closer look, notice and wonder, enjoy the moment and have creative fun in the desert.
All Levels welcome.
